Catalogue description:
Folders of Antiquarian notes by B. Bagshawe
These relate mainly to Derbyshire places and families. The sources are in the main the Wolley, Hunter, Mitchell and Harleian Collections in the British Museum, with some additional material from local collections of deeds belonging to families, solicitors, etc. It was probably collected mainly in the earlier part of Bagshawe's life in the 1870s. For many places listed the material is brief, and all of it is scrappy. Cox's Derbyshire Churches covers some of the same ground.
[These are the working notes of Mr Bagshaw. I have simply transcribed them - even when they appear to make no sense!]
