Note: The death appears to have been registered 14 months after it happened. The registrar at Bakewell assures me the death is definitely recorded as 1840, and the registration definitely took place as 1842. She said that she imagined the death must have really been 1841, but this cannot be the case as the burial was in 1840 (12), and she doesn't appear in the 1841 census. There must have been some reason for the excessive delay in registering the death, but we're unlikely to find out what it was.
