Father Nathaniel Prime
Mother Jane Smith
Wife Martha Johnson
Children Francis, Sarah

Richard was born in 1728, probably in Rowtor in Birchover, the son of Nathaniel and Jane(1)(2). He had an older brother Thomas(3). His brother Jonathan was born in 1730(4), followed by sister Jane in 1732(5), then another brother Nathaniel in 1734(6). Next came Mary in 1736(7), Francis in 1739(8), and then finally, after a long gap two more brothers - Daniel in 1750(9) and Peter in about 1754(10). It's possible that he had more as yet unknown younger brothers and/or sisters too(13).

He married Martha Johnson in Winster on 10th November 1754(14) and they settled there. They didn't have any children baptised in the local church, so they may well have belonged to some non-conformist congregation, such as the Quakers or Methodists. Only two children are known of - a son Francis(17) and a daughter Sarah(15).

Martha died in October 1786(16). Richard wrote his will in 1791(17), and died five years later. He was buried in Winster on 26th February 1796(18).

Peter Prime made oath that he is of the age of 28 years & upwards & a Bachelor & intends to marry Mary Swindall of Alfreton ... aged 25 years and upwards
  13. The Winster PR records Nathaniel and Jane having children baptised up to 1739, and then again from 1750. It is highly unlikely that they really did have a gap of 11 years between children. For example the father of Mary, mentioned as "niece Mary Boam" in the Will of Thomas Prime(11) may be an unknown brother.
