Nothing is known of Thomas until, in 1572 he appears in the parish register of Youlgreave when his daughter Katherine was baptised (1). He had another daughter, Clemens, in 1575 (2).
He died the following year, and was buried in Youlgreave on 29th April 1576, at which time he was said to have been a husbandman (3).
The only other mention of a Knightly in the parish register, is the marriage of Elizabeth in June 1577 (4), so it seems very likely that Thomas moved to Youlgreave from elsewhere when already married, and possible that Elizabeth was his widow.
