Thomas Robinson

1673 - after 1744

Thomas was born in Tideswell in 1673, the son of Thomas ⁽¹⁾. An elder sibling had died the year before, but although its unlikely he had any other elder siblings (given his father's age), its not certain as the parish registers for Tideswell are missing for about a decade or so before his birth ⁽²⁾. A younger brother Samuel followed in 1677 ⁽³⁾, then John in 1681 ⁽⁴⁾. John died in 1684 ⁽⁵⁾ just before the birth of his sister Elizabeth ⁽⁶⁾.

He married Ann Palfreeman in February 1699 ⁽⁷⁾, and their eldest son Richard was born the following year ⁽⁸⁾. Another son, Thomas, followed in 1705 ⁽⁹⁾, then John in 1708 ⁽¹⁰⁾ and William in 1711 ⁽¹¹⁾. His only known daughter Dorothy was born in 1718 ⁽¹²⁾ (although the gap between William and her suggests that one or more of his children's baptisms may possibly be missing), and then finally his youngest son James in 1720 ⁽¹³⁾.

His wife Anne died in 1744 ⁽¹⁴⁾. Thomas was still alive at this time, but nothing later is known of him.

• Richard was born in Tideswell in 1700. He married Mary Leech in 1726 and they had six children - Thomas, Richard, Mary, John, Jane and James. Richard died in 1768, and Mary in 1770.
• Thomas was born in 1705. He worked as a cooper and married a woman called Joan, but they don't appear to have had any children before she died in 1743. Thomas lived until 1779, when he left his estate to his brother James.
• John was born in 1708. There is no record of him ever marrying prior to death in 1735.
• William was born in Tideswell in 1711. Nothing more is known about him.
• Dorothy was born in 1718. She married William Middleton when she was thirty, and they had four children - Mary, Ann, another Ann, and William. She died in 1767.

   Baptised 8/6/1681 - John, son of Thomas Robinson. However I was unable to find this entry in sequence in the microfilm of the PR, and it is not listed in the IGI. As Thomas did have a son John buried 18 months later though, I'm guessing it probably appears out of sequence amongst some of these hard to read earliest extant pages.
