James Robinson

1720 - 1789

Father Thomas Robinson
Mother Ann Palfreeman
1st wife Catherine Wright
2nd wife Ann Drable
Children Hannah, James, Joseph, Mary, Thomas, Elizabeth, James, Anne, Mary

James was born in Tideswell in 1720, the youngest child of Thomas and Ann (1). He had older brothers Richard, Thomas, John, John and William, and an older sister Dorothy (2).

His mother died in 1744 (3). His father probably didn't live a great deal longer, but his date of death is not know.

He married Catherine Wright in 1749 (4), and their first child Hannah was born the following year (5). Their next child was a son James whose date of birth isn't known, but who died in January 1753 (6), just a few months before daughter Hannah's death (7). Later that year they had twins Joseph and Mary (8), but Mary only survived for a few weeks (9). Their next son Thomas was born in 1756 (10), then Elizabeth in 1758 (11), James in 1760 (12) and finally Anne in 1762 (13). It seems likely that there were complications with Anne's birth as his wife Catherine died a few weeks later (14),

James remarried just six months later, to Ann Drable (15), and they had a daughter Mary in 1764 (16).

In 1779 he was sole beneficiary and executor of his brother James' estate (17).

His second wife died in 1786 (18), and James died three years later in 1789. He was buried in Tideswell on 20th July (19).
